The upmarket fashion retailer from New York received the prize for its Dallas store, whose design and fittings brilliantly combine art and architecture. The products are displayed as if in a gallery, lending strong additional emphasis to the very high-quality merchandise presentation and positioning of Barney's as a premium seller.

The German outdoor specialist was honoured for its Cologne store, its biggest to date, and thus for its high degree of specialisation on a single customer segment. This includes conscious use of authentic, genuine natural materials, but also specific furnishings that ensure a high degree of credibility with the target group, for example cold and rain chambers for testing clothing.

The lifestyle speciality store received the award in 2008 for its clear positioning as a high-end retailer with an excellent mix of classic and innovative new brands, which also is reflected in the character of the merchandise presentation. In terms of brand selection and visual merchandising, each of the seven sales levels features a distinctive concept for well-directed appeal to the target group in question.
